In the last few years I, and many others, have noticed a lot of companies starting to rebrand themselves. Almost all of these brands have one thing in common; simplifying their brand identity.
It can be a good thing that these brands are looking for a universally attractive look to appease all demographics. But, are they oversimplifying to the point of losing their original charm and personality that we’ve all known and loved?
Some companies will completely remove elements in their logo/branding that made them unique in the first place, like Twitter/X, Fanta, Sierra Mist, etc. With these designs they, in my opinion, make them look extremely boring. It feels as though everyone and everything has to be serious, “clean” and modern when not everything has to be like that! I think it’s okay if some things allow some fun and creativity to peak through.
