One of my favorite packaging designs is from a skincare and makeup brands called Tony Moly. I’ve only ever purchased one of their products before but anytime I pass by their products at a store, they always grab my attention. The style of their packaging is very cute with a lot of focus on fruits and adorable animals. I really enjoy their face masks (image below) and their illustrations of each different type of mask like the rose and cactus.
I think this type of packaging is definitely directed towards a specific audience who does enjoy really cute things like this. This is a Korean brand and from what I’ve noticed, a lot of them go for the cutesy and clean aesthetic that is very popular in asian skincare/make up. Because of their popularity and success, it seems like a lot of American brands have followed their lead.
Another reason why I like this packaging compared to other skincare is that it can be displayed and be used as decoration when you’re not using the product. I personally have the Peach Hand Cream which is lotion in a peach container, which is more fun than just an average lotion bottle! I think having this container on display in my bathroom or even room just makes it look even cuter!
